American scientists optimize the electrodes of electrochemical reactors through 3D printing

    2024-03-13

Nowadays, with the joint efforts of researchers, entrepreneurs, and staff from relevant research institutions in various countries, 3D printing technology is accelerating its maturity and playing an increasingly important role in fields such as finance, healthcare, education, retail, construction, and cultural and creative industries.

Scientists and engineers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) optimize the electrodes (FTEs) of electrochemical reactors through 3D printing, which can convert carbon dioxide and other molecules into useful energy products. The research team used graphene aerogel 3D to print out the carbon electrode for the first time, significantly improving the efficiency of transporting liquid or gas reactants to the reaction surface through the electrode. The relevant research results are published in the Journal of the National Academy of Sciences in the United States.
