The regulatory system for human activities in nature reserves has officially launched remote sensing

    2024-01-10

Recently, in order to enhance the regulatory capacity of ecological environment in nature reserves, further enhance the modernization, scientificization, and refinement of ecological environment regulatory work in nature reserves, effectively fulfill the ecological environment regulatory responsibilities of nature reserves, and make up for the technical deficiencies in regulatory aspects of nature reserves, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has officially launched a regulatory system for human activities in nature reserves for the whole society.

Establishing nature reserves is an important measure to protect biodiversity, preserve natural heritage, improve ecological environment quality, and maintain national ecological security. It is also a common practice for countries around the world to protect nature. Since 1864, Joseph Mitty Valley in the United States became a modern nature reserve in the world, several countries have established approximately 220000 nature reserves. After more than 60 years of efforts, China has established numerous, diverse, and diverse types of nature reserves at all levels. However, in the process of establishing nature reserves, problems such as multiple management, unclear boundaries, unclear rights and responsibilities, and prominent contradictions between protection and development continue to emerge, seriously restricting the protection work of nature reserves. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision and management of nature reserves, and implement the protection work in an orderly and lawful manner.

In July 2019, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and others, held a video conference on the deployment of strengthened supervision of the "Green Shield 2019" nature reserve. The meeting emphasized that relevant departments should effectively strengthen the supervision of the "Green Shield 2019" nature reserves, establish a regular supervision and inspection mechanism for nature reserves, and regularly carry out remote sensing monitoring and on-site verification work.

In fact, thisnot the first time in China that remote sensing monitoring technology has been used to regulate nature reserves. Since 2016, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has been organizing satellite environmental application centers, using high-resolution satellite remote sensing monitoring technology to regularly monitor human activities in all national and provincial nature reserves, and has initially formed an active discovery and supervision system of "remote sensing discovery ground verification supervision law enforcement".

In recent years, with the rapid development of advanced information technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, whether in the fields of agriculture, industry, or environmental protection, people have begun to rely on the power of modern information technology to carry out large-scale reforms towards modernization, intelligence, and intelligence, and gradually radiate new vitality and vigor. As an important component of ecological environment protection, the monitoring work of nature reserves has fully integrated these advanced information technologies into the supervision work of nature reserves, striving to use the power of technology to comprehensively improve the supervision level of nature reserves.

It is understood that the human activity supervision system of the nature reserve integrates advanced technologies such as 3S technology, big data, and cloud computing, establishing a comprehensive information technology, comprehensive coverage, efficient and convenient, and collaborative integrated human activity supervision system for the nature reserve. This system consists of two parts: a web page (WEB) and a mobile app (APP), which can manage, schedule, and verify remote sensing monitoring data. From the website images of the Nature Reserve Supervision System released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, it can be seen that although the system incorporates advanced information technology elements such as big data and cloud computing, remote sensing monitoring is still the main means of collecting information in the environmental monitoring process.

Currently, remote sensing monitoring technology, as an automated monitoring method that can directly identify, analyze, and judge regions without the need for sampling, has been widely used in ecological environment investigation and environmental pollution monitoring processes. With the rapid development of modern remote sensing technology, remote sensing monitoring technology has significantly improved in terms of detection range, monitoring accuracy, and information acquisition speed. This means that the contribution of this technology in the field of environmental monitoring will be further expanded, and its role cannot be underestimated.

In summary, the official launch of the human activity supervision system for nature reserves by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment can provide more powerful information support for the supervision of nature reserves. Remote sensing monitoring technology, as an important force in environmental monitoring, will continue to make efforts to assist China's ecological civilization construction.
