According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a research team composed of Tokyo University of Technology and the Institute of Industrial Technology has successfully developed a technology to miniaturize and integrate the quantum sensors made of diamond, which can capture very small magnetic changes.

At the technical level, quantum sensors use semiconductor component manufacturing technology using diamond as the raw material, which can read small magnetic force changes through electrical signals. The experiment shows that the current generated by the above-mentioned semiconductor components under laser irradiation will change due to magnetic force, which confirms the realization of the quantum sensor function.

Due to the fact that the quantum sensors made of diamond mentioned above can detect small magnetic changes in brain or neural activity, they are expected to be applied to in-depth and detailed research on brain state and activity, in order to elucidate the mechanism of brain activity and prevent neurological diseases.
